We love an adventure in this house, but at the same time, we also love the chilled days and just popping out the house for an hour or two for some fresh air and to stretch our legs. Today was definitely one of those days. The husband turns the big ‘4-0’ in a couple of weeks, and we’re actually going to be away on holiday, so he decided to have a little celebration with our friends last night. A cosy 22 of us went for dinner and cocktails and had a super fun and wonderful evening out. It was a pretty late one, and of course the husband got the lay-in, what with it being his birthday celebrations, so this morning definitely called for a slow and quiet one. I love these kinds of days, but I do start to get a little cabin fever and need to pop out at some point, even if only for an hour. Where do we always end up going? To the park of course. We’re actually really lucky that we live in walking distance to a lovely little place called Hylands Park. We had a picnic there last August on a gorgeous Summer’s evening which I wrote about here. It has a beautiful country house with formal gardens on site, but also a really wonderful adventure playground. We’ve spent so much of the boys childhoods there, so it really does hold lots of special memories. It was a pretty special one today as it was Hugo’s first proper outdoorsy walk as he’s been a bit too unsteady until now and still crawled lots.
I completely forgot to take my camera but did manage a couple of iPhone snaps. I must say though, my boys are a nightmare to photograph. I see all these beautiful pictures of bloggers children, posing nicely and everyone looking at the camera. But when I try and get a nice pic of mine, Finley is always pulling this horrible awkward false smile and looking in a different direction, and Hugo is trying to run away and pretty much never looks at the camera! Any tips would be hugely appreciated!
